Got a nice deal on a lightly used Cross Classic Century fountain pen. Goes along nicely as a counterpoint to my beloved Cross Stratford ballpoint. What are y'all other Opponauts' favorite pens?

For a number of years, I have survived on boxes of Uniball Micros or Super Ink Micros.

I love drawing with My Cross and a Medium tip cartridge. My medium tip is out of ink, I need to get more. All I have now is a fine tip, I dont like drawing with it, It doesnt bite the paper well.

I got one of those as a present (I think it's the same model. It's blue and silver.) but I always use the cheaper Stratford instead. I have a connection with that thing.

I used to use the black Bic ballpoints because they're so cheap, but I can't go back from the nicer, heftier Stratford I got as a present four years ago. I've used it every day since then.

I like those Visions. I use the red ones as revision markers.

One that writes.
I fucking hate being handed/forced to use a dead pen.

It's the worst. I take control of my own destiny and always carry two refills minimum.

my daily driver is an aquamarine Lamy Safari, one of their limited edition colors.

Love my good ol' Parker ballpoint. But prefer a mechanical pencil for taking notes and other everyday stuff.

I've never really had any fancy pens, but I've always been a fan of the Pilot G2 07.

I have one of those in Silver. I bought it probably about 20 years ago, back before they even offered it in different colors. Great pen.

I love me some Faber Castells. Great pens to sketch with

Some of my favorites:
Namiki vanishing point. So damn smooth, and to be able to push the button on the end and have a nib pop out is priceless.
Rotring that's so old they have changed the style name, I think they call it the 600 series now. Solid. As in "if I wanted to use a pen to kill someone, this is the one I would grab" solid. Serious block of aluminum crafted into a pen.
Lamy Safari: Big lightweight aluminum job with a nice little window in the body that lets you see the ink level.
My signature pen is a Waterman Opera, with the black herringbone pattern and gold accents.
Also, if you haven't already, you should give Noodler's Ink a try. Dries very fast, writes like silk, and is quite permanent.

Awesome! Sounds like you have a nice little pen life going for you! Thanks for the recommendation.

Totally agreed. I'm not a great or even passable artist, but those things are the funnest.

I like those, but they seem to dip in and out of inkiness. Very smooth though!

Ah man, that sounds amazing! I love heavy medium barrel ballpoints. I hope you can enjoy that thing forever!

I broke the cap last year, so I have to send it to Dunhill for a replacement.

For artwork I'll mostly use crow quill pens with the assistance of brushes or Koh-i-Noor pens.
For anything else I use the pens I appropriate from work.

I don't care about style, I want functionality.
For stuff that I want to shade:
For smoothness:

Yep, they write so well! They have been my favorite writing thing since the mid-90's lol!

These are definitely good cheap pens. I like using them, but the large amount of ink they lay down doesn't jive well with my sloppy handwriting.

Agreed. I finally started using a decent mechanical pencil (one that isn't made entirely from cheap plastic) for notes and I can't go back to pen or regular pencil. It took me going to the store and saying "okay this time I don't buy a cheap one". I found a brand that has a long, twist-up eraser that's so much easier to replace (and doesn't need replacing very often). I just wish it came in 0.6mm. It's hard to find that size in regular stores. 0.5mm is too thin and breaks easily, and 0.7mm is just a little too thick. I stick with 0.7mm.

Yup, they´re nice. I´ve always used my old man´s Pentel when I was younger. During my first year of college I bought a Rotring from the university store and I´ve been using it ever since. I really love the fact that you´re easily able to erase your notes. I guess I´m a kind of perfectionist, but I like everything tidy.
Also, I´ve grown to dislike ballpoints (just a little bit). I´m used to the resistance a mechnical pencil gives. Normal ballpoints imo give much less resistance. Unfortunately, that means that my handwriting has become horrible when I use a normal pen :(

Nice sketch.
Uniball Visions have been my favorite workhorse pens for well over a decade - I try others, but keep coming back to them - but I recently bought a Pilot Metropolitan fountain pen that's holding it's position in my pocket so far:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00…
The heft is nice, but the line isn't quite fine enough for my normal liking, and it bleeds more on some papers. Very nice pen, though.
I also have a set of Sakura Pigma Microns. Love playing around with the superfine ones.

Yeah I have the same issue. I like the smooth feel of a pen but my handwriting with them is worse. I had found some ballpoint pens with a really fine tip that had a lot of tracking friction across the paper which helped but they went through ink like crazy, and not being able to erase is a downside.
